Insights from RPPL Network Organizations on Data Use, Standardization, and Infrastructure
This report summarizes findings from interviews with PL organizations in the RPPL network, conducted by the University of Pennsylvania team in 2025. The purpose of the report is to better understand how these organizations use and organize data to support four core goals: (1) creating standardized measurement tools across PL organizations; (2) broadening access to shared, standardized data; (3) housing shared data in a common secure platform; and (4) developing and validating innovative measures that enable lower-cost, higher-quality research.
The projects described aim to build interconnected strands of work through shared measures of practice, collective data use, secure infrastructure, and the long-term development of innovative measures.
