About RPPL
Our collective is bringing the teacher professional learning field together to study which practices support teacher learning and increase equitable student outcomes.
RPPL’s Mission and Vision
We are advancing educational equity for every student, including those who have been historically pushed to the margins of our education system. Together, we study teacher learning to identify, share, and enact PL that improves teachers’ practices and students’ classroom experiences, well-being, and academic growth.
We envision a world where all students and educators are valued, supported, engaged, and thriving in equitable, rigorous, and joyful learning environments that prepare them to be successful lifelong learners.
The Professional Learning Landscape
Ensuring students have access to a quality education starts with guaranteeing every teacher has access to quality professional learning.
The U.S. invests around $37 billion each year in teacher professional learning. We maximize this funding when we understand what models improve student outcomes, why they work, and for which students they work.
RPPL’s research is unlocking the knowledge providers need to design PL that allows every teacher to meet the needs of every student.
RPPL’s Theory of Action
RPPL is designed to serve students. We do this by setting the vision for high-quality teacher professional learning, creating partnerships that research what works in PL, and sharing that knowledge with the field.
PL organizations and school leaders conduct research and implement quality PL, while policymakers invest in impactful PL. Educators can then engage in PL that improves teacher practices, allowing students of every background to succeed in school and in life.
RPPL’s Partners
We bring together perspectives across the entire professional learning field, creating research-practice partnerships to make this vision a reality for all students and teachers.
