Brown Bag: Diving Deeper on What Works in PL (12/13/22)

Catch up with the recording and slides from RPPL’s December 2022 Brown Bag on the learnings from RPPL’s latest brief, Building Better PL: How to Strengthen Teacher Learning.

By Dr. Stacey Alicea and Dr. Nate Schwartz | RPPL

Based on member and affiliate feedback, we’re excited to offer this “add-on” session to dive deeper into the learnings from RPPL’s latest brief, Building Better PL: How to Strengthen Teacher Learning. In case you missed it, the authors Heather Hill & John Papay gave an overview in October’s Brown Bag session (view the recording here). For our December Brown Bag session, we’ll spend time in small breakout groups discussing:

  1. Are there certain principles or strategies that are discussed in the brief that play a major role in your organization’s PL work? If so, how? If not, what constraints do you face?
  2. What has your organization learned over time about how to implement these strategies (or elements of these strategies) effectively? What ongoing learning are you doing?
  3. Where do you wish we knew more? What additional questions do you have coming out of the brief that you wish we could collectively find ways to answer?

We’ll then bring this learning back together as a whole group and think about what this means for both the kinds of cross-organizational learning that are possible through RPPL and how we improve at our collective learning and research over time.
