RCT: Community of Practice

We recognize how essential randomized controlled trials (RCTs) are to conducting rigorous professional learning research. However, many of our organizations currently lack the capacity to independently run RCTs. This Community of Practice (CoP) is designed to support RPPL partner organizations that are curious about and committed to building their internal RCT capacity.

We will be successful if we establish a shared understanding of the value and purpose of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in professional learning research and begin assessing current organizational capacities and needs, building a collaborative roadmap for strengthening internal RCT capabilities across the RPPL network.

  • What are the enabling conditions that support RCT research within PL organizations?
  • What are the inhibiting factors that make RCT research within PL organizations more difficult?
  • What are the practices or actions that PL organizations can engage in towards developing the investment, capacity, and infrastructure to implement RCT research?
  • Notes of what was discussed during each meeting
  • Recording of meetings
  • Any pre-work
