This project is a research–practice partnership that brings Chicago Public Schools, six professional learning organizations, and RPPL’s research team at the Annenberg Institute at Brown University together to understand how teacher leadership works across the district — where it happens, what helps it thrive, and how it improves teaching and learning for students.
Working as a shared Community of Practice, partners are mapping the landscape of teacher leadership in CPS, listening closely to teachers and school leaders, and building common ways to measure progress. Over the coming years, the partnership will examine how teacher leadership shapes instruction, student outcomes, and teachers’ own careers — and will share what it learns with educators in Chicago and across the country. Together, we’re building the evidence and the relationships to make teacher leadership a lasting strength of Chicago’s schools.
