This toolkit, developed by EdInstruments at Annenberg EdExchange and RPPL, is designed to support PL providers, district leaders, and coaches who want to track implementation progress and PL quality across the first several years of ELA curriculum shifts for grades 3–12.
In the fall of 2023, 10 organizations within RPPL’s network shared insights on the measurement challenges that PL organizations face and where there were opportunities for improvement. The white paper resulted in the establishment of a professional learning community – ANet, Instruction Partners, Leading Educators, Teaching Lab, TNTP, and UnboundEd – dedicated to addressing the challenges.
The output of the professional learning community is this toolkit that provides measurement tools – including school leader, teacher, and student surveys, a PL observation checklist, and a classroom observation rubric – for evaluating curriculum implementation, assessing how well high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) are being used, tracking teacher and student progress, supporting improvements, or identifying successes, which can be used individually or as a complete set. As organizations collect data, we will be able to share comparisons with the field.
