Ten PL organizations across RPPL’s network came together in a workgroup through 2023 to share insights on the measurement challenges they face and where they see opportunities for improvement. Together, they wrote RPPL’s brief Measuring Teacher Professional Learning: Why It’s Hard and What We Can Do About It.
In 2023 RPPL followed up with organizations after the Network Engagement and Learning Manager, Krista Morales, conducted 1:1 interviews for the network landscape analysis. RPPL reached out to organizations who voiced their commitment to both equity and measurement when assessing teacher PL. Led by RPPL’s executive director, Stacey Alicea, and Krista Morales, the measurement workgroup, which consisted of 10 organizations, met over the course of 5 months to write RPPL’s first measurement paper, Measuring Teacher Professional Learning: Why It’s Hard and What We Can Do About It. The measurement brief was the first step of RPPL’s measurement strategy as we listened to the practical and equitable challenges organizations face when it comes to measuring the impact of teacher PL.
